Each of these 930s has an ambidextrous tang safety and a quick-empty magazine release button. Push it and all loaded shells easily drop out. The receivers are drilled and tapped so you can mount Picatinny rail for optics. Synthetic forend and stock models have an adjustable stock drop spacer system. These guns also have a dual gas-vent system that reduces felt recoil.
Except where noted, the Hunting models are 4+1 capacity autoloading shotguns built around 24” or 28” barrels topped by rib vents. They weigh 7.5 to 7.75 pounds and have 44.5” to 48.5” overall lengths. Most have front fiber optic sights, polymer forends and stocks. Most have a camouflage scheme. But even here there are many outliers. For instance, the 930 Hunting All Purpose Field has a classic standard model with a blued barrel and receiver that’s paired with a walnut forend and walnut buttstock.
The tactical models have a nicely textured oversize charging handle. All have synthetic forends and stocks. Most have 18.5” barrels, correspondingly lengthened magazine tubes that raise capacity to 7+1 and cylinder bore chokes. One exception is the 930 Thunder Ranch with its standard-length tube and corresponding 4+1 capacity.
The Sporting group is a lineup of just one model: the 930 Pro-Series Sporting. This 4+1 has a classic scheme that effortlessly melds a blued barrel and a beautiful receiver with a sinewy walnut forend and stock. There is excellent texturing on both parts. The gun has a 28” barrel and a vent rib atop straight vertical piers that’s topped by a customizable HiViz TriComp front sight. There is also a trio of Briley Accu-Set chokes. Length of pull is fixed at a comfortable 14”. Overall length is 48.5” and weight is 7.75 pounds.
